1. How to Create an Account
Welcome to Composer!
For individual trading, Composer offers taxable and retirement accounts, similar to major brokers like Fidelity and Schwab, with standard money transfers, regulatory protections, and tax reporting. To get started, you’ll need to sign up for an account.
For trading entities, business accounts are also available. Whether you run a fund, LLC, trust, or are a prop trader looking to establish your own entity, book a call here to get your free consultation and more information about opening a Composer Business Accounts.
Trading Pass & Pricing
To begin actively investing using automated strategies, you’ll need a Trading Pass for equity trading, which costs $40 per month when paid monthly or $384 per year ($32 per month) if paid annually.
Crypto trading does not require a Trading Pass, you can start trading without a subscription.
Business accounts have a separate pricing structure and can be tailored to your entity’s needs. Please contact us, and we’ll assist with your onboarding.
Signing Up
Setting up an individual account is straightforward. You’ll provide some basic information, including:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Citizenship status
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Employment status
- Annual income
- Source of funding
- Investment goals
- Risk tolerance
- Professional investor status
After that, you’ll select your account type and link your bank. These steps are required for regulatory requirements set by U.S. financial regulatory authorities.
Note: Crypto trading is only available in select U.S. states. If eligible, you’ll see the option during signup.
Funding Your Account
Once your account is set up and your Trading Pass is active, you’ll need to fund your account before you can start investing.
- Link your bank using Plaid, a secure tool used by thousands of financial institutions.
- Transfer cash directly or move your brokerage account to Composer (though cash transfers are usually easier).
- Add funds through your Account page:
- Click your profile avatar (top right) → Accounts & Funding
- Click Add Money
- Enter an amount and click Deposit Now
Deposits typically clear within a few business days but may take up to five, depending on your bank. Once funded, you’re ready to start investing!
