Automated Trading vs. Buy Now / Sell Now
Composer offers two approaches to symphony trading: automated trading during a scheduled Trading Period and immediate trade execution through Buy Now and Sell Now features.
Automated Trading
With automated trading, all of your symphony trades are automatically executed during Composer's Trading Period. During automated trading, Symphony Swaps are used when you hold multiple symphonies in your Composer account. These automated internal exchanges between symphonies may potentially save on transaction fees, improve price execution, reduce wash sales, and minimize exposure to price fluctuations. However, it's important to note that market conditions can vary and past performance is not indicative of future results.
Immediate Trading: Buy Now and Sell Now
When you want to buy or sell a symphony, the Buy Now and Sell Now features give you control over when your trades execute. This immediate trading option allows you to buy or sell a symphony whenever you want while the market is open, outside of Composer's standard Trading Period.
Buy Now and Sell Now do not use Symphony Swaps since they only trade one symphony at a time.
Who Can Buy Now or Sell Now?
Buy Now and Sell Now are available if you have an Individual account held with one of our clearing partners, Alpaca. If you are unsure who your account is cleared through, please contact our team at help@composer.trade.
At this time, Buy Now and Sell Now are not available within Composer retirement accounts (Roth and Traditional IRAs).
